ARTETERAPIA E DEPRESSÃO EM IDOSOS

A depressão em idosos é um dos transtornos psiquiátricos de maior prevalência; entretanto, muitas vezes não é diagnosticada e, em decorrência disso, não é tratada, o que pode levar a consequências de difícil manejo, como por exemplo: mais comorbidades médicas, maior mortalidade, piora da qualidade de vida, comprometimento cognitivo, declínio funcional, alterações da estrutura cerebral e aumento do risco de suicídio. A Arteterapia é importante aliada do tratamento farmacológico por possibilitar a concretização de pensamentos e sentimentos, a fim de que possam ser elaborados, além de ter papel significativo na prevenção da depressão e na mobilização de diversos aspectos do ser humano: a cognição, o sistema sensório-motor, a emoção, a intuição e a espiritualidade.
